Born in Paris on September 23, 1886, Pierre Laurent Baeschlin was a pupil of Pierre Eugène Monthézin.  He began his career working in the field of decorative silks and wallpapers, later commencing his studies with Monthézin and Henri Camille Danger.

He later moved to Saint Leu la Forêt, a suburb of Paris when he painted and tended his rose garden.

Baeschlin also took frequent trips to Brittany and in particular, Douarnenez where he painted mainly flowers. His rare paintings are known for their accuracy and elegance.

His paintings are found in private collections in the UK and France.
