Capturing the stillness of a simple stucco home in the quiet heat of Northern Africa, Hilda utilizes subtle colors and variations to breathe a sense of life into the home by trading off both warm tones and a cooler, more impressionistic palette.
E. Baily Hilda was talented painter of the Orientalist School of the late 19th to early 20th centuries. She was the daughter of Rudolf Ernst known for his orientalist works as well as the wife of illustrator, Louis Bailly.
E. Baily Hilda may possibly be the same artist listed as Ilda von Ernst, a notable portrait painter.
