Wouterus Verschuur Jr. was a Dutch painter renowned for his specialization in horse and dog paintings, following in the footsteps of his famous father, Wouterus Verschuur (1812–1874). Primarily working in Amsterdam, he continued the family tradition of capturing equine scenes with similar artistic focus and refinement.
A sensitive and beautifully painted portrait, confidently and deftly handled with beautiful touches of varying shades of white, browns and ochres.
He is one of the later representatives of Romanticism in Dutch art.
